Old Bank building, Guinea Bissau

Submission by Ana Dju and Isa Lopes da Costa

Why is this your favourite building?

We chose this building because the architect used materials found in Guinea-Bissau and created a structure that somehow fits into the structure of downtown, which is ironic because even though it fits in, overtime it has been abandoned. The building is post-colonial and also shows how in spite of colonialism being “over and done with”, it still lingers through buildings such as the one we chose, reminding us of what Bissau once was.
